BTS look at the setting of Bloodstone Moon

Posted on July 29, 2026July 26, 2026 By marthathurston

My latest book is now available on Amazon.

Many times, when I write, I like to make my settings familiar. I want to to be able to visualize these places as I write, even though I know I could always find pictures of places that meet those expectations. Just like many of my books, Bloodstone Moon is set in the foothills and mountain regions much like the one that I grew up in.

From compounds that reminded me of the layout of camps I attended when I was young to places I’ve visited, these were the inspiration for the mountainous region the book is set in. Even the plausibility that cell service is non-existent in these areas is part of the setting.

If you have ever driven through the Blue Ridge Parkway, you know that cell service is extremely limited. The mountains tend to block the cell tower signal causing you to randomly lose your GPS service from time to time. Just like in the novel, the cellphones don’t work when they are high up in the mountains. They have to use landline phones or satellite phones to call out.

If you’re looking for a werewolf paranormal romance with a strong female lead, then check out Bloodstone Moon.
